What: Join the Sprout Club this winter to learn about the amazing world of plants with topics that include sunlight, mad science and air plants.

Cost: $15 for the series; $7 per class
Details: For age 3 to 5, plus an adult. Each class will include an activity and snack. Attend all three classes and receive a plant-related prize.

Holiday Centerpiece
When: Tuesday, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
What: Your holiday table will sparkle and glisten with this long and low centerpiece. Marie Borocz will guide you in using fresh, mixed holiday greens, red carnations, white mums and some glitz and glitter.

WINTER SOLSTICE CELEBRATION
When: Wednesday, 5 to 7 p.m.
What: Celebrate the shortest day and longest night of the year at the Nature Center with a luminary walk, campfire, snacks and hot drinks. Winter solstice marks the beginning of winter, but also the point of the year where daylight hours will soon begin to grow.

Caught in Time
When: Tuesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., through Feb. 16
What: Celebrates the 125th Anniversary of Mill Creek Park and honor the vision and efforts of its founder, Volney Rogers. The exhibit features the best of local nature photographer C. Scott Lanz’s thousands of photographs taken in the park over the last 15 years.

One Man’s Dream: 125 Years of Mill Creek
When: Tuesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., through Dec. 31.
What: Take a trip back through the last century and a quarter as you rediscover Mill Creek Park. Stroll inside the Davis Center to see your favorite iconic park structures, the annual holiday tree walk, a student-led Chihuly-inspired display and seasonal blooms. Open until 8 the first three Saturdays and Sundays, so you can experience the lights in the Electric Garden. Plus, find that perfect gift at the Shop in the Gardens and savor refreshments at the Garden Cafe.
