The U.S. Marshals Service is warning the public of a telephone scam involving a fraudulent caller contacting members of the public and alleging they have an active federal arrest warrant or bench warrant and demanding payment of fines.
The U.S. Marshals Service received information from several people who said they were contacted by callers claiming to be deputy U.S. marshals in Akron or Cleveland.
The U.S. Marshals Service is a federal law-enforcement agency and does not seek payment of fines or fees via the telephone, and will never ask someone to go to a local store to get a prepaid credit card.
South Side robbery

Police are investigating a robbery reported about 1 a.m. Saturday at Zedaker Street and Roxbury Avenue on the city’s South Side.
A man told police he was robbed by two men and a woman who took his wallet and a Samsung smartphone.
The victim said he was thrown to the ground, causing his nose to bleed.
