Annual bird count

CHAMPION

Trumbull County’s Christmas Bird Count will be next Sunday. The count area is within a 15-mile diameter circle encompassing Champion, Southington, Bristolville, Greene and the Cortland area west of state Route 11. Feeder watchers are needed. The count is the longest, continuous survey of birds. The first one took place in 1900 along the East Coast. Trumbull County’s count has been conducted since 1976. All the results can be found online at the Audubon website. This is unique because volunteers in the North brave cold temperatures to help count. For information, contact Carole Babyak at 330-856-6160.
