POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty, Girard, city of Canfield and Austintown:

HUBBARD

Dec. 1

Harassment: A Center Street man and his teenage son reported the son had been threatened via Facebook messages.

Dec. 2

Harassment: A Gladys Street woman said she’s received daily such calls, apparently originating in Racine, Wis., over a two-week period.

Dec. 3

Theft: A Hermitage, Pa., woman reported her purse stolen from her vehicle while in the 500 block of Dorchester Drive.

Auto theft: A 2002 Buick LeSabre was stolen in the 500 block of Meadowland Drive.

Theft: A Wendemere Drive man realized that a .20-gauge shotgun had been removed from his truck.

Domestic violence: Larry R. Lintz, 40, of Caroline Avenue, Hubbard, was charged with the crime after his wife alleged that during a confrontation, Lintz had grabbed her hair, pulled the accuser to the floor and held her by the neck, then placed a handgun to the back of her head.

LIBERTY

Dec. 3

Burglary: To a vacant home for sale in the 3500 block of Denver Drive, from which copper piping and wiring were stolen.

Theft: Someone removed a large lighting fixture from a yard in the 1700 block of Wilson Avenue.

Breaking and entering: Someone broke into a garage in the 1700 block of Park Avenue, then stole several items that included an amplifier and a carburetor and damaged a portion of siding and plywood.

Recovered property: A 2015 Chevrolet Equinox was found undamaged in Youngstown after a Monticello Boulevard woman had reported the car stolen.

Arrest: Township police at the Mahoning County jail took custody of 24-year-old Richard D. Neal Jr. of Hudson Avenue, Youngstown. He was wanted on a probation-violation warrant.

Dec. 4

Arrest: A traffic stop near Redfern Drive resulted in 30-year-old Joseph E. Crenshaw’s arrest. Crenshaw, of Mansell Drive, Liberty, was accused of failing to appear in court to face a theft charge.

Assault/criminal damaging: A clerk at a Belmont Avenue gas station told police someone tossed a large rock, which broke a window and struck the victim in the back of his head.

Criminal damaging: Officers responded to a report of three people trying to enter an apartment in the 200 block of Colonial Drive before charging 19-year-old Franky L. Blevins with criminal damaging. The Marion, Ohio, man had attempted to enter his former girlfriend’s apartment to retrieve some of his belongings and did $750 in damage to the door, likely with a tire-iron bar, a report said.

Dec. 5

Arrest: Stephen I. Shackelford of Hartzell Avenue, Youngstown, was arrested after having been pulled over near Gypsy Lane. The 22-year-old Shackelford was wanted on a city warrant charging failure to appear in court.

Burglary: Someone in the 400 block of Aurora Drive entered a garage and forcibly opened a door leading to the residence. A garage-door opener appeared to have been the only item stolen.

Dec. 6

Arrest: Youngstown police in the 2900 block of Belmont Avenue handed to Liberty authorities 21-year-old Cheri A. Kiser of Upland Avenue, Youngstown, who was wanted on a warrant from that city charging failure to appear in court.

Theft: Two employees with a Belmont Avenue doctor’s office reported a prescription order form had been taken.

Dec. 7

Drugs: After pulling him over near Colonial Drive, authorities issued a minor-misdemeanor citation charging Braelin D. Douglas, 21, of East Auburndale Avenue, Youngstown, with marijuana possession. Also, 18-year-old Alissa K. Miller of Colonial, Liberty, was charged with obstructing official business when, police alleged, she lied about her last name and age, claiming she was a juvenile.

GIRARD

Dec. 4

Drugs: A traffic stop near South Davis Street led to a minor-misdemeanor citation charging 18-year-old David M. Copes of East Main Street, Girard, with having a small bag of suspected marijuana in his car.

Aggravated menacing: An Illinois Avenue man alleged that while at an out-of-town wrestling tournament, his father-in-law had threatened his life.

Dec. 5

Criminal mischief: A woman returning to her Cherry Street residence saw that someone had spray-painted two letters on the back of her garage.

Arrest: A vehicle check on Stewart Avenue led to the arrest of Patricia R. Simmons after police pulled her over near Interstate 80. Simmons, no information given, was wanted on a Girard warrant.

Dec. 6

Theft: A Church Hill Road man alleged a family member had used his bank card several times without his knowledge. He also reported several checks missing.

Theft: A West Liberty Street man discovered three packages containing various Sony PlayStation and Nintendo games had been stolen from a hallway in his apartment building.

Dec. 7

Theft: A woman reported $15 missing from her purse at her Mosier Road home.

CANFIELD

Nov. 21

Arrest: Police arrested Christopher Zets, 42, of Evergreen Drive, Poland, on a charge of telecommunications harassment to a person at a home in the 60 block of Village Boulevard.

Nov. 28

Damaged mailbox: A mailbox was reported damaged at a home in the 100 block of Topaz Circle.

Criminal damaging: Parked vehicles were reportedly egged at a home in the 500 block of East Regency Circle.

Menacing: A report of menacing with threats of violence was made at a home in the 6000 block of Herbert Road.

Nov. 29

Drug paraphernalia: Police arrested Vincent Riccardo, 24, of Greenmont Drive on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Dec. 1

Warrants: Police arrested Norman Ritchie, 51, of Lisbon Street on two Canfield Mayor’s Court warrants for failure to appear in two pending cases.

Warrant: Police arrested Ronald Swan, 52, of Cuyahoga Falls on a warrant out of Portage County.

AUSTINTOWN

Nov. 28

Criminal trespass: James Allen, 35, of Winchester Avenue was released on a summons for criminal trespassing at Weston Center, 550 Mahoning Ave.

Assault: An assault was reported at Westgate Plaza, 4431 Mahoning Ave.

Nov. 29

Sex offense: A male suspect was seen masturbating in the lobby of the Sleep Inn, 5555 Interstate Blvd.

Sex offense: A male suspect was seen masturbating in the lobby of the Fairfield Inn, 801 N. Canfield-Niles Road.

Warrant: Police arrested Kenneth Ledinko, 61, of Winchester Avenue, Youngstown, on a warrant for complicity to theft. He was released later, however, on a summons due to health issues.

Sex offense: Police arrested Samantha Maxwell, 30, of North Lima on charges of soliciting sex and possession of criminal tools at the Super 8 Motel, 5280 Seventy-Six Drive.

Nov. 30

Menacing: Police said they have a suspect in a menacing at a home in the 30 block of South Main Street.

Assault: A female employee was assaulted by a student at the Youth Intensive Service, 238 S. Meridian Road.

Fraud: A scam involving the electric company and Green Dot cards was reported at Dick Adgate’s, 5865 Mahoning Ave.

Dec. 1

Bad check: A bad check for $2,270.27 was passed at the Drywall Barn, 408 N. Meridian Road.

Recovered property: A lawn truck and trailer stolen from Boardman were recovered.

Theft: Lawn equipment was taken from a home in the 3000 block of Lanterman Road.

Theft: A laptop was stolen from a car parked at a home in the 200 block of Penny Lane.

Theft by deception: Services by a company were not performed at the Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road.

Menacing by stalking: Unwanted texts and threats were reported by a person who lives at a home in the 400 block of Wilcox Road. The suspect has access to firearms.

Identity theft: Unauthorized accounts were opened at a home in the 4000 block of Nantucket Drive.

Theft: A cellphone was stolen from Walmart, 6001 Mahoning Ave.

Dec. 2

Dispute: A verbal dispute was reported at a home in the 4000 block of Westchester Drive.

Criminal damaging: Tires were damaged at the Austintown Public Library, 600 S. Raccoon Road.

Breaking and entering: A storage locker was broken into at E-Z Self Storage, 5214 Mahoning Ave. The lock was pried off and an unknown amount of contents was stolen.

Telecommunications harassment: Unwanted texts, phone calls and nude photos were reported by a person who lives at a home in the 4000 block of Washington Square.

Violation of protection order: Unwanted mail was reported at Harley-Davidson Biketown, 5700 Interstate Blvd.

Dec. 3

Felonious assault: Police arrested Cherice DiProsperis, 29, of Carnegie Avenue, on a charge of felonious assault after she returned to a home in the 200 block of Carnegie and purportedly threw a knife at a male victim.

Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle: A male suspect drove a car without authorization says a person at a home in the 100 block of Westminster Avenue.

Criminal damaging: A car window was smashed out at a home in the 50 block of Westminster Avenue.

Identity theft: A credit-card number was stolen and used at Walgreen’s, 5501 Mahoning Ave.

Warrant: Police arrested Kimberly Coleman, 44, of Benford Lane, Youngstown, on a warrant for failure to appear on a traffic charge.

Warrant: Police arrested William Ortiz, 32, of Eigen Street on a warrant for failure to appear on a traffic charge.

Dec. 4

Theft: A male suspect stole items from the JCPenney store, 6000 Mahoning Ave.

Criminal damaging: A front door window and a vehicle’s windshield were broken at a home in the 3000 block of Elmwood Avenue.

Vandalism: A delivery truck was damaged at United Freezer, 650 N. Meridian Road.
