The Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe is Monday. Valley churches plan celebrations.
Christ the Good Shepherd Parish at St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell: A celebration in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe will take place at 6:30 p.m. Monday with a mariachi-style Mass. Participants should bring a rose to present to Our Lady of Guadalupe. Refreshments will be served in the church hall after the Mass.
St. Patrick Church, 1420 Oak Hill Ave., Youngstown: Faith Formation at the church, in collaboration with Walsh University Campus Ministry, will present a parish family event Sunday in celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Mass will take place at 10 a.m. followed by song and praise, a Mexican meal and presentation by Miguel Chavez, director of Campus Ministry at Walsh University, and Pedro Chavez, director of Liturgical Services at Walsh. They will focus on the appearance of Our Lady of Guadalupe to St. Juan Diego. Pedro will serve as music minister at Mass and lead the congregation in song and praise. Donations of roses and carnations are requested for the celebration.
St. Brendan Church, 2800 Oakwood Ave., Youngstown: Our Lady of Guadalupe Mass is planned at 2 p.m. Sunday with a procession with roses. The Rev. Ernesto Rodriguez, coordinator of Hispanic ministries in the Diocese of Youngstown, will officiate. A fiesta with foods from Mexican restaurants will follow.
St. Paul Church, 935 E. State St., Salem: Our Lady of Guadalupe will be recognized during a Spanish Mass at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 18 at the church with its sister church, St. Patrick in Leetonia.
