Justin Hepfl, 28, of Merwin Chase Road, Brookfield, will have an extradition hearing at 9 a.m. Monday before Judge Peter Kontos of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.
Pennsylvania authorities want to extradite Hepfl to Mercer County to face charges in a Thursday gunfight in Hermitage, Pa.
Deputies with the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office went door to door in the Kinsman area Thursday afternoon looking for Hepfl in connection with the shooting of two men outside of the Chalet Apartments on Dutch Lane earlier in the day.
Hermitage police charged Hepfl with three counts of attempted murder and three counts of aggravated assault, according to The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, 21 WFMJ-TV.
Deputies and the Kinsman Police Department were notified at 2:42 p.m. to check an area northeast of Kinsman for Hepfl. They found him at the Green Acres Motel on state Route 7. He gave up peacefully.
MVSD obtains grant
WEATHERSFIELD
The Mahoning Valley Sanitary District has obtained a $6.36 million low-interest loan from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency to assist in replacement of distribution valves and transmission mains.
MVSD will implement the third phase of valve replacement and transmission main repair and replacement of public water system pipes serving Youngstown, McDonald and Niles. Construction is expected to be complete by mid-2018.
Injured in shooting
WARREN
A 23-year-old city man was in stable but serious condition Thursday after being hit by one bullet in his upper chest and one in his lower back fired from a car coming the opposite way on Palmyra Road Southwest.
The victim said he and his brother were traveling west on Palmyra at 1:15 p.m. when someone in a gold vehicle with tinted windows fired at him.
The two brothers proceeded to ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital. The victim was flown by helicopter to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

BOARDMAN
U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Howland, D-13th, announced that Pranav Padmanabhan, a Boardman High School junior, won the Congressional App Challenge for Ohio’s 13th Congressional District.
Padmanabhan’s app, called the PolitiViewr, provides voters with nonpartisan political information and knowledge about their local races and aims to increase voter turnout among eligible voters, while helping people make informed decisions at the polls. Padmanabhan’s app will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol building along with other winning submissions from around the nation.
