First Presbyterian Church, 22 Westview Ave., plans special services during Advent.
The choir and flutist Jacqueline Evans will be featured at the 11 a.m. service Sunday.
Featured at the 11 a.m. Dec. 18 service will be the church choir, soloists and violinist Brendan Considine.
Christmas cantata
BOARDMAN
Bethel Lutheran Church, 425 Crestview Drive, will present a Christmas cantata, “A Carol to the King,” at 10 a.m. Dec. 18.
Nativity to be staged
YOUNGSTOWN
Zion Lutheran Church, 330 Canfield Road, Cornersburg area, will present its 37th annual live Nativity on Dec. 18 with performances at 5:30, 6, 6:30 and 7 p.m.
Soup and sandwiches will be served after each performance.
Reconciliation planned
WARREN
Blessed Sacrament Church, 3020 Reeves Road NE, will conduct an Advent reconciliation service at 3 p.m. Sunday with a communal penance service.
The Rev. Thomas Eisweirth and other priests will be available to hear confessions.
Lessons and carols

St. James Episcopal Church, 7640 Glenwood Ave., will conduct an Advent service at 10 a.m. Sunday in the historic St. James Meeting House in Boardman Park. The Festival of Lessons and Carols is a unique service, dating back more than a century to England, with Scripture and hymnody.
The people of St. James have been gathering as a community to worship God since 1809. For 142 years from 1829-1971, folks met in what is now known as St. James’ Meeting House in Boardman Park. In 1972, the new building on Glenwood Avenue was consecrated. The Rev. Shawn Dickerson is parish priest.
Christmas musical

“Discover Christmas,” a Christmas musical celebration, will be presented at 6 p.m. Dec. 17 and 9 and 11 a.m. Dec. 18 at New Life Baptist Church, 3414 State Route 208.

New members of Christian Associates of the Shenango Valley are the Rev. Frank Hodge of Hickory United Methodist Church, the Rev. Doug Dyson of First United Methodist Church of Sharon and the Rev. Anthony Kladitis of Faith Presbyterian Church.
Members will assist First Presbyterian Church in Sharon, Pa., at a New Year’s Day dinner planned at 12:30 p.m. Jan. 1.
Guest singers

Pastor Jonathan Mitchell and the congregation of Faith Fellowship Church of God, 388 E. Midlothian Blvd., will host singer Ronn Jones and his wife, Paula, of Hamilton, Ohio, at the worship service at 10:45 a.m. Sunday.
There will be a Christmas banquet and potluck dinner in the fellowship hall after the morning service.
First sermon
YOUNGSTOWN
Constance Hudson will present her first sermon at 3 p.m. Sunday at Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, 646 Lakewood Ave.
Music will be provided by the male chorus.
