Hundreds of people attended the Austintown Middle School annual craft show hosted by the PTA on Nov. 12.

There were exactly 150 vendors who set up tables at the 33rd annual event. This is the one and only fundraiser the PTA does for Austintown Middle School and one of the biggest fundraisers in the Austintown City School district.

“This is our one big fundraiser here at AMS which is amazing, it’s huge,” said PTA president Lynn Mickey.

Aside from vendors, there was a concession stand, 50/50 tickets and a Chinese auction. Student volunteers from National Honor Society spent their afternoon helping with concessions, serving the vendors complimentary breakfast.

PTA chairmen Kelly Constance and Michele Misik were in charge of organizing the craft show. The craft show takes almost a year to plan and get everything set up. Vendors hear about the craft show from word of mouth and attending the prior craft shows. There are several vendors to fill out an application to participate in the show that a waiting list had to be created.

Admission is free to those who want to attend and is open to the entire community. Vender gift cards are offered and there are five drawings, a drawing every hour, for winners to receive a gas card.

The success of the craft show allows the PTA to continue the annual event. The craft show provides funds for the students at Austintown Middle School to participate in different activities throughout the year, such as holiday school parties and after school activities.
