SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR At a special ceremony at Ellsworth VFW, Homer Marsh and Daniel King, two WWII prisoners of war, were honored for their service. Marsh, left, of Austintown, enlisted on Dec. 7, 1943, and became a member of the U.S. Army 21st Tank Battalion 10th Armored Division and served in the European Theater. He was captured in Germany and spent 35 days in a POW camp. He was released from service in January 1946. King, of Lordstown, formerly of North Jackson, enlisted in the Army Air Corps in October 1942. He became a flight instructor and was shipped to England and assigned to the 384th Squadron of the 365th Flight Group, where he flew P-51 Mustangs. On his 30th mission, while accompanying a bomber squadron in Germany, his aircraft developed engine trouble and he had to bail out. He was captured and held in Germany until June of 1945.
