‘Polar Express’ film at Scottish Rite

NEW CASTLE, PA.

“The Polar Express” will be screened at Scottish Rite Cathedral, 110 E. Lincoln Ave., at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Tickets are $10 for adults, and $5 for children accompanied by an adult.

Tickets will also be sold at the door.

Pre-show music will be played on the hall’s pipe organ, and all proceeds will go toward the instrument’s restoration.

Refreshments and a free digital picture are part of the event.

Nativity scene lecture at Arms

George Johnson, a Christmas collectibles expert, will give a presentation on the history of Nativity scenes at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Arms Family Museum, 648 Wick Ave.

The lecture is included with a paid admission to the museum, which is currently displaying the “Memories of Christmas Past” exhibit.

Many people have Nativity scenes in their homes, but some of the traditions and figures represented in the scenes can be surprising.

The museum is open from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Admission is $7 ($6 for seniors and $5 for children).

JD Eicher band’s ugly sweater show

JD Eicher and band’s annual ugly sweater show, featuring Joy Ike, will be at 8 p.m. Saturday at Soap Gallery, 117 S. Champion St., downtown.

Schools present winter concerts

STRUTHERS

The Struthers City School District will present its annual holiday winter concerts beginning with the Struthers Middle School choir at 5 p.m. today.

The sixth- and seventh-grade band will perform at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 13, and the eighth-grade and high school band at 7 p.m. Dec. 14.

All concerts will be in the middle school auditorium.
