Flu-shot clinic set

The Mahoning County Health Department will conduct a flu-shot clinic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday in its offices at 50 Westchester Drive.

Participants are asked to bring their driver’s licenses and Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance cards for billing purposes.

Flu shots are free with most insurances. No appointment is necessary.

Dog-license deadline is last day of Feb.

Mahoning County Auditor Ralph Meacham reminds county residents that Feb. 28 is the deadline to buy 2017 dog licenses.

Licenses, which cost $20 per dog, may be purchased from the auditor’s and dog warden’s offices and online through the auditor’s page on mahoningcountyoh.gov.

Award for Canfield

COLUMBUS

The city of Canfield is among the recipients of the Auditor of State Award, state Auditor Dave Yost announced in a news release.

The award is given to local governments and school districts upon their successful completion of a financial audit. Entities chosen for the award must meet the criteria for a “clean” audit report, such as receiving no comments related to ethics referrals or lack of timely submission, among other things.

Canfield was one of nine entities to receive the award in the most recent announcement.

Clergy breakfast set for Dec. 13

A clergy caucus breakfast is planned Dec. 13 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Holy Apostles Parish, 421 Covington St. Breakfast is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. and dialogue from 9:30 to 11 a.m.

Speakers will be the Rev. Gayle Catinella of Youngstown and Pastor Roger Jordan of Warren.

The Rev. Joseph Rudjak is host pastor. Monsignor Robert Siffrin is president of the Alliance for Congregational Transformation Influencing Our Neighborhoods.

Cookies with Santa in Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN

The Mahoning-Youngstown Community Action Partnership will conduct its free Cookies with Santa event from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday in its offices at 1325 Fifth Ave.

The event will feature cookies, candy, music, raffles, giveaways and a coloring contest.
