True Cinder wins Glacial Princess Stakes
AUSTINTOWN
True Cinder ($2.10) registered an easy victory in the $75,000 Glacial Princess Stakes for Ohio Accredited 2-year-old fillies on Saturday at Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course.
Ridden by Ricardo Feliciano, the Alcindor filly went right to the front after breaking sharply and never faced a challenge from her seven rivals.
Roses for Sharon, a first time starter for the Ruberto Racing Stable, outfinished Princess Brooke and Grizabella for the runner-up spot. Diva’s Kitten was next across the finish line in fifth, followed by Pappias Pleasure, Mygirlfriday, and Street of Miesque.
Trained by Penny Rone and owned by husband Michael, True Cinder was recording her second blowout victory at the meet after a string of three consecutive in the money finishes in stakes races this summer. She earned $45,000 for the win and has now earned more than $98,000 from six starts.
Eightthehardway ($3.00) justified the public’s confidence with a professional win in the stretch winning the $75,000 Ruff/Kirchberg Memorial Handicap for Ohio Accredited 3-year-olds and up.

Road rage cited in McKnight’s death
HARVEY, La.
A road rage incident possibly sparked by a driver cutting off another on a nearby bridge spiraled into a shooting that left an ex-NFL player dead, authorities said, amid criticism the shooter was allowed to go free.
Joe McKnight, 28, was shot Thursday afternoon in Terrytown, across the Mississippi River from New Orleans. Authorities identified Ronald Gasser, 54, as the shooter and released him overnight.
At a news conference Friday, Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand said the altercation started on a nearby bridge and proceeded into the New Orleans suburb.
Kerr’s admission could spark dialogue
OAKLAND, Calif.
David West has undergone four surgeries in his long NBA career: left knee, right elbow and right foot twice to fix a couple of toes.
“I don’t even like saying all that,” he said.
So, yes, West knows real pain. Draymond Green has never needed an operation — he knocks on a table not once but twice as to not jinx himself — yet he considers that the option of using medicinal marijuana “makes a lot of sense.”
Steve Kerr’s players believe his voice can go far in starting a serious, thoughtful dialogue in professional sports regarding pot use for pain relief.
