Trump says he will pick Gen. Mattis for defense secretary

CINCINNATI — In a rousing speech in this city to his Ohio supporters, President-elect Donald J. Trump said he will pick James Norman Mattis, a retired U.S. Marine Corps general, as his secretary of defense.
