Sister Patricia McNicholas heads college board

Sister Patricia McNicholas of the Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown was named chairperson of the board of trustees for Eastern Gateway Community College.

The college is based in Steubenville and operates a branch in Youngstown.

Sister Patricia has served on the EGCC board of trustees for two terms, beginning in fall 2009, and including as vice chairwoman of the board. In her leadership roles with EGCC, she was instrumental in revising policies to reflect more effective policy governing practices. She has further served the college through her participation in community and state events, such as having been a representative with the Mahoning Valley Trumbull 100, the Martin Luther King Association, ACTION, and P-16 Partnership. Sister Patricia has represented EGCC at state meetings with the Ohio Association of Community Colleges as well as the American Association of Community College Trustees.

She also is development officer for Beatitude House, which helps homeless women and their children break the cycle of poverty through education and other assistance, and serves on the leadership team for the Ursuline Sisters.
