Two men stabbed in October charged with aggravated robbery

Staff report

WARREN

Police said two men are charged with trying to rob another man Oct. 14. The purported victim, however, stabbed them and took a gun from them.

Brian K. Wright Jr., 20, who listed addresses on Woodbine Avenue Southeast, Warren, and Rebecca Drive, Canfield, and Devonta K. Binion, 19, of Mahoning Avenue, are each charged with aggravated robbery.

Wright was arrested Tuesday after spending several weeks in the hospital recovering from stab wounds to the chest. He was initially treated at ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital, but was later flown to Cleveland Metro Hospital.

Binion was also treated at TMH, but flown to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center for a chest wound.

When both men were interviewed at Trumbull Memorial, they said they were stabbed while being robbed on Front Street Southwest.

But a third man, who is 18 and from Warren, came to the city police station later and said he was a victim of a robbery committed by Wright and Binion. He provided officers with a knife and gun he said were involved in the incident.

Police believe the third man used his own knife to stab Wright and Binion after they tried to rob him.

Capt. Robert Massucci said police believe the three men met up for unknown reasons at 12:05 a.m. Oct. 14 on Front Street, and the stabbings took place after that.

Wright was arraigned Wednesday in Warren Municipal Court, where a not-guilty plea was entered for him, and bond was set at $75,000.

Binion was arraigned Nov. 16. A not-guilty plea was entered for him, and he was released after posting $5,000 bond.
