Training academy offered to combat addiction

Flying High Inc. and the Mahoning County Mental Health and Recovery Board present a new training academy.

The Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA) bilingual training series, offered by Mental Health Consultants, Inc., consists of 40 classroom hours covering eight content areas.

“The training is designed for the individual who wants to grow professionally and expand his/her knowledge and understanding of addiction,” a news release stated. “Many alcohol- and drug-treatment agencies hire CDCA-certified individuals to help others overcome their addictions.”

The registration deadline for 15 available seats is Sept. 12. The application fee is $25.

To be eligible, applicants must have knowledge of drug and alcohol addiction; speak English and another language fluently; and be able to attend all five sessions.
