Roux, South Range golf team breaks two records in victory

LISBON

The South Range boys golf team broke a team and individual school record on Tuesday in its 143-190 win against Crestview. Tom Roux shot a 31 at Beaver Creek Meadows, beating record-holder Brian Crawford (class of 2005) by a single stroke to set a new record in individual nine-hole play. The Raiders’ 143 team total is the lowest in nine-hole play, besting a mark of 148.

VOLLEYBALL

Cardinal Mooney 25-25-25, South Range 23-17-11

YOUNGSTOWN

Autumn DeSantis led the Cardinals with 13 kills, Kaylin Bowman had eight kills and four blocks andHaylie Sapp had 14 digs. Maria Pelini had 17 assists for Cardinal Mooney (3-1). Codi Taylor had seven kills and Sofia Durina had 21 assists for South Range 2-4.

Ursuline 25-23-19-25-15, LaBrae 19-25-25-14-11

LEAVITTSBURG

The Irish outlasted the host Vikings in five games after falling behind 2-1. Tiana Drake and Morgan Meyer each had eight kills for LaBrae (2-2), while Danielle Donce had six blocks had six blocks and Chelsea Marsh had nine digs. Donce added three aces and Arianna Geordan had 13 assists. JV: Ursuline, 2-0. No statistics were reported for Ursuline.

Wellsville 25-25-25, Springfield 18-17-17

WELLSVILLE

Sara Chaszeyka and Lyndsey Smith each had eight kills to lead Wellsville. Kaelen Yemma led Wellsville with 23 assists. Statistics for Springfield were not reported.

Adria Powell had 28 kills and three aces. Addy Jarvis had 20 kills and 18 digs. Emily Krinos had 61 helpers and two aces. Kristen Fahndrich contributed 34 digs for Hubbard. Lainie Simmons had 24 digs and four kills. Khala Cameron had seven blocks, five kills and three aces. Nicole Noday and Ashley Fuller both chipped in eight assists.

Jane Parry had 23 assists while Myah Busse had eight kills for Niles. Karli Shives had eight kills, three aces, and a block her teammate Michelle Buser chipped in with nine kills, three digs and an ace for Struthers.

COLUMBIANA

Emily Gosselin had 27 assists, 15 digs five aces and three kills while Dee Dixon had 18 kills and eight kills in Columbiana’s five-set win. Bonnie Flynn had 33 kills, 68 digs and three aces in the loss. Hannah Brandenstein had 37 assists, 10 digs and two aces as well for Heartland Christian.

Howland 25-23-24-25-15, Crestview 22-25-26-17-9

EAST FAIRFIELD

Cassie Murcko had 20 kills and five blocks in Howland’s (4-1) five-set win. Faith Grant added 18 kills, five blocks and five aces while Haley Vandegrift had 12 digs. Brenna Auer had 16 kills and nine digs for Crestview (2-1).

Boardman 25-24-25-25, Girard 15-26-14-21

GIRARD

Kaylin Burkey had 18 kills and 23 digs. Ashley Clark had 27 assists, six aces, and 22 digs. Haley Blangero had nine kills with six aces for Boardman. Carlie Angelo had 16 kills, and two aces. Melanie Bakes had 33 assists. Makayla Trebella had 11 kills for Girard.

Mathews 25-25-25, Liberty 13-19-15

Mathews’ Katarina Schubert recorded 23 assists for the Mustangs, leaving her 20 shy of 1,000 for her career. Schubert also aced three serves. Morgan Williams had a team-high 11 kills. No stats were reported for Liberty.

NEWTON FALLS

The Tiger’s Elizabeth Boone led her team with 15 points and dished out 26 assists. Olivia Hedge and Ashley Gulling each scored 12 points and mad 10 and 11 digs, respectively. Izzy Kline had a team-high 13 kills and eight blocks.

West Branch 22-25-25-25, Minerva 25-21-17-11

MINERVA

Elise Wallace and Grace Heath had 15 and 14 points respectively in West Branch’s four-set win on the road. Whitney Wallace led the Warriors (6-1, 1-0) with 10 kills while Natalie Zuchowski added seven. Wallace had 14 digs while Heath had nine.

Mineral Ridge 26-21-24-16, East Palestine 24-25-26-25

EAST PALESTINE

Anna Bodo had 17 kills with four assists, 14 digs, and an ace. Sabrina Stokes showed up with five kills, a block, nine digs and two aces. Delane Schumacher had nine kills, 10 assists and six digs for East Palestine.
