Spartans dominate at YCC to capture Irish Invitational
Medalist Christman tops Terlesky in playoff

There wasn’t much drama in the the chase for the team championship in the Irish Invitational on Monday.
Boardman dominated the field with 296 strokes and took the title by 32 shots over second-place Akron Hoban (328).
The drama came in deciding medalist honors. Boardman teammates Cole Christman and Brian Terlesky both shot 72 in 18 holes, sending the two into a sudden-death playoff.
Christman won the playoff to become the medalist of the tournament hosted by Ursuline.
Terlesky was the medalist at the Cardinal Mooney Classic on Saturday at Mill Creek Golf Course, where he shot a 67.
Columbiana’s Jared Wilson (73) finished third and Boardman’s Cade Kreps (74) and Cardinal Mooney’s Ken Keller (74) tied for fourth.
The Spartans also had a fourth player in the 70s in Bryan Kordupel (78). Bobby Jonda shot 87 for Boardman.
Aaron Aptkar (76) paced Akron Hoban to its distant second-place finish.
Brookfield (329) was third, led by Conner Stevens (79).
Keller’s round of 74 led fourth-place Cardinal Mooney (331).
Danny Brooks’ 81 led Ursuline (337), which finished in a fifth-place tie with Solon (337). The Comets were led by Jared Rosher (81).
Poland (341) was paced by Alex Rapp’s round of 82, and Columbiana (346) was led by Wilson’s medalist-challening round of 73.
Tom Roux’s round of 84 led South Range (346), while Anthony Graziano’s 81 was the low round for Girard (350).
Joe Raggazine’s 84 led McDonald (362) and Anthony Catauro shot an 83 to pace Austintown Fitch (370).
Jimmy Graham’s round of 76 led Warren JFK (382) and Katie Hiestand’s 97 was the low score for Louisville St. Thomas Aquinas (399).
