Goihl nets Scrappers’ winning RBI in 10th

The Mahoning Valley Scrappers snapped two skids with Monday’s 6-5 victory over the Williamsport Crosscutters in New York-Penn League action.

The Scrappers had lost their previous five games against the Crosscutters. They also had lost their previous five extra-inning games on the road.

In the tenth inning, Emmanuel Tapia singled and Gavin Collins was hit by a pitch. After Erlin Cerda walked to load the bases, Jack Goihl hit a sacrifice fly to score pinch runner Jorma Rodriguez.

Ryan Perez made quick work of the Crosscutters in the bottom of the 10th inning as he struck out the side to pick up the save.

Gabriel Mejia lead-off single to start the game extended his hitting streak to 11 games.

Cerda hit a two-run single in the first inning. In the second inning, Todd Isaacs hit a RBI triple.

Silento Sayles hit a solo homer in the eighth inning.
