Smallest cars to be featured at Packard

The National Packard Museum, 1899 Mahoning Ave. NW, is opening a micro-car exhibit titled “Micro Cars: Mini Wonders” on Saturday. This special exhibit, which runs through Dec. 23, showcases 10 of the smallest and most unusual cars built in the U.S. and Europe.

They are an unrestored 1949 Crosley Hot Shot, a 1952 Fiat Topolino, a 1955 Messerschmitt KR200, a 1958 BMW Isetta, a 1959 Ford Prefect and three vintage King Midgets built in Athens, Ohio.

The National Packard Museum is open Tuesday to Saturday, noon to 5 p.m., and Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m. Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for seniors 65 and older, and $5 for children (age 7 to 12). For information, visit www.packardmuseum.org or phone 330-394-1899.Groundbreaking set

Windsor House is scheduled to break ground on its newest skilled nursing center, Windsor House at Canfield, 6446 state Route 46, at 2 p.m. Sept. 7.

Windsor House at Canfield will consist of 72 private patient rooms, a large state-of-the-art therapy gym and numerous other amenities. The 60,000 square-foot center will create 70 jobs.

Windsor House, Inc. has been working on this project for over two years as a Joint Economic Development District formed between Windsor House, Canfield city and Canfield Township. This is the first JEDD formed in Mahoning County.

Patrol crackdown on impaired driving

SHARON,PA./NEW CASTLE, PA.

During the Labor Day holiday, Sept. 2-5, Pennsylvania State Police Troop D is placing an “even greater” emphasis on detecting impaired drivers, speeding and safety equipment violations.

“A proactive, zero-tolerance approach will be practiced,” the Pennsylvania State Police said.

The areas of special enforcement include Mercer and Lawrence counties.

The PSP urged motorists, for the safety of all law enforcement, service tow companies and disabled motorists along the roadway, to steer clear and stay alert when approaching emergency vehicles on the roadway.

Mathews group sets basketball game

VIENNA

Mathews Bond Levy Committee will have a free basketball game between Mathews staff and local safety forces at 6 p.m. Sept. 10 in the Mathews High School gymnasium.
