Fire destroys two city houses


YOUNGSTOWN — Fire reports said two vacant North Side homes were destroyed by fire over the weekend.

About 10:08 p.m. Saturday, crews arrived at a 708 Clyde St. home in Brier Hill engulfed in flames. Reports said crews decided to let the home burn and protect neighboring buildings because the home was already beyond saving and there were previous fires there as well,

Damage is listed at $7,780. The cause is listed as under investigation.

The cause for a blaze at a vacant 54 Sycamore St. home about 8:50 p.m. Friday is listed as arson, reports said. Reports said the home was already destroyed by the time firefighters arrived.

Damage there is listed at $6,370. Reports said there were no injuries at either fire.
