Library will offer storytime programs

EAST PALESTINE

East Palestine Memorial Public Library, 309 N. Market St., is offering several storytime programs.

Toddlertime for children ages 2 to 3 years old and their parent or caregiver will be at 11 a.m. Mondays beginning Monday through Dec. 5.

Preschool Storytime for children ages 3 to 5 years old will be at 1 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Tuesday through Dec. 6.

Historical society sets September calendar

SALEM

Salem Historical society is offering activities in September.

The museum, 208 S. Broadway, will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Mondays beginning Sept. 4 featuring the “Then and Now” exhibit on Salem history. The last tour begins at 3:30 and the Garden Gift Shop will be open.

Underground Railroad Trolley tour will be available at 1:30 p.m. Sept 4. Reservations must be made at 330-337-6733 or email trolley239@aol.com.

On Sept. 11 the History Roundtable will feature “First Responders – Police, Firemen and EMS” from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Dale Shaffer Library, 239 S. Lundy, in the library meeting room. Call 330-337-8514 for information.

The society will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 13 in the Dale Shaffer Library meeting room. Richard Scarsella will present “William Holmes McGuffley and His Reader.” The public is invited.

Library programs for September

LISBON

Lepper Library, 300 E. Lincoln Way, is sponsoring several children’s programs in September.

Preschool storytime will be at 10:30 a.m. every Wednesday with stories, songs and activities. The home school hour will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Sept. 8 and will include gravity play. Take paper towel and bathroom tissue rolls. On Sept. 19 a local author, Kathryn Blystone Watkins, will visit from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. She wrote the Log Cabin stories. Dolls and Divas will be featured from 6 to 7:30 Sept. 22. Take your favorite doll for stories, games and crafts. Minecraft Club will meet from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Sept. 27. Take your own device.

Sign-up is still available for reading 1,000 books before kindergarten. Children will receive a free book for reaching the goal.

Cemetery walk time corrected

CANFIELD

Loghurst will have a cemetery walk Sept. 18 at Canfield East Cemetery at 2 p.m. Wendell Lauth will conduct the tour. The cost is $5 per person, and parking is at the cemetery. An incorrect time was provided for an earlier notice.

Colorzen class for adults at library

SALEM

Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St., will host a Colorzen coloring class for adults in the Quaker meeting room. It will take place from 11 a.m. to noon Sept. 9.

Take your own refreshments and materials will be provided. No registration is required. For information call the library at 330-332-0042.

Center to offer re-entry programs

austintown

Abundant Harvest Fellowship Center, 104 Idlewood, will offer a meeting on prison re-entry programs at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 10. Lunch will be provided. Cost is $10 and reservations are requested by Friday by calling Candy Tarpley at 330-788-0988.

The session will explain what prison re-entry is, its role in the community and having a voice in state and county prison systems. JoAnn Pangio is pastor.
