SHARON, PA.

The Pennsylvania State Fire Marshal is investigating a Sharon fire that left one person dead.

A captain with the Sharon Fire Department told 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, the call came in about a home on fire on the 200 block of Wilson Street shortly before 4 p.m. Friday.

The state fire marshal was back at the scene Friday evening investigating the cause of the fire.

Fire officials said they were not prepared to offer the name of the victim, who is a woman in her 50s, until the fire marshal had completed an investigation.

Facing drug charges

AUSTINTOWN

A traffic stop on Mahoning Avenue on Friday morning led township police to find suspected cocaine and drug paraphernalia in a vehicle.

Tashuanna Perkins, 31, of Youngstown and Barbara Kosap, 53, of Boardman are each charged with one count of felony possession of cocaine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a police report.

Shanika Simmons, 32, of Youngstown was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Trumbull County on a probation violation.

Police stopped the vehicle at about 2:15 a.m. on Mahoning near Benton Avenue, and reportedly found burnt tubes and a small bag containing a white powder that a field test determined to be cocaine.

Perkins and Kosap were taken to the Mahoning County jail.
