YOUNGSTOWN

New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman St., invites participants to dress “relaxed” for worship services at 7:30 and 10:40 a.m. Sunday.

Elvis Sunday

WARREN

Elvis started singing Gospel songs in church, and Mark Pringle, an Elvis tribute artist, will reflect the beginnings of the king of rock ‘n roll during a worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday at Central Christian Church, 2051 E. Market St.

Pringle has revised some of the lyrics of Elvis hits such as “Heartbreak Hotel” to “Heaven’s Hotel” and “Jailhouse Rock” as “Jesus is the Rock.” He looks and dresses the part with clothes and shoes such as Elvis wore in the ‘50s.

Everyone is welcome to attend.

Ministry program

YOUNGSTOWN

The office of Lay Ministry Formation in the Diocese of Youngstown is again offering Foundations in Ministry, a 20-session program to deepen the spirituality, theological knowledge and ministry skills of laity.

In order to remain vibrant in the future, parishes need more committed baptized disciples to participate in the ministry of the Church. This program gives participants an opportunity to learn, pray and reflect on their faith among a community of learners and to better discern their own call to ministry.

Foundations in Ministry runs from late September through early April and is offered at three locations throughout the Diocese of Youngstown: St. Joseph in Jefferson on Tuesday evenings, the Ursuline Center in Canfield on Monday evenings, and St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Louisville on Thursday evenings.

All sessions meet from 7 to 9:30 p.m.

For more information, contact Pete Schafer, director of the Office of Evangelization and Pastoral Planning, 330- 744-8451 ext. 289 or email to pschafer@youngstowndiocese.org.
