Pedestrian killed near New Castle

NESHANNOCK

Police are investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian just before midnight Friday night.

New Castle resident Bruce G. Willis, 35, was found unresponsive by emergency personnel and police after he was hit at at 11:44 p.m. on state Route 18.

According to a police report, the driver of the vehicle said he was traveling south on Route 18 when something struck his windshield , smashing it inward. When he turned around, he found Willis on the road, and had a passing motorist call 911.

The southbound lane was closed for about three hours.
