Raccoons caught after romp through capitol

OKLAHOMA CITY

Two masked intruders were captured after entering the Oklahoma Capitol, rummaging through a senator’s office and splashing around in a second-floor bathroom.

The intruders? Raccoons.

Senate officials say security footage shows the pair sneaking down a Senate hallway on Wednesday night and exploring an office. A cleaning crew trapped the raccoons in a bathroom and called animal-control officers.

Oklahoma City spokeswoman Kristy Yager says the two raccoons are being taken to a wildlife sanctuary south of Oklahoma City.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol, which provides security for the Capitol, says it’s not sure how the raccoons made it into the building. Patrol Capt. John Paul joked: “They didn’t have any ID on them, no known address.”

‘Elderly man’ turns out to be young fugitive

BOSTON

Authorities say an “elderly man” found at a Massachusetts home actually was a 31-year-old fugitive wearing a disguise.

Police went to a house on Cape Cod on Thursday looking for Shaun Miller, who’d been a fugitive since April when he and several others were indicted on heroin-distribution charges. Police say when they ordered a man there to come outside, an elderly man emerged.

The U.S. Attorney’s office says when officers realized the man was Miller, they pulled off his “realistic disguise” and placed him under arrest. Nearly $30,000 in cash and two loaded guns were found in the house.

Miller, of Hyannis, is being held pending a detention hearing Wednesday in federal court. It wasn’t immediately known if he’s represented by a lawyer.
