The Poland library hosted an Ice Cream Bash and Games Galore program on Aug. 9 to celebrate the summer reading program coming to a close.

Annette Ahrens and Amanda Kollar, youth librarians at Poland library, put together an afternoon event filled with different games, a craft and ice cream. The children could choose from a ring toss, a bean bag toss, Cornhole, bowling, making an Olympic torch and eating ice cream.

Children of all ages attended the event with their families and friends to celebrate. The summer reading program stared June 1 and ran through Aug. 13. The program gave children the opportunity to attend certain events at the library and read books to earn points. The more points a child earned, there were different rewards.

Many of the children played games and made crafts before eating ice cream. They could choose from chocolate, vanilla or blueberry cheesecake ice cream.

With the summer reading program coming to a close and school starting in a couple weeks, the libraries are creating fun events for the children to attend before going back to school.
