Lynn Cardwell instructed a class at Fellows Riverside Gardens on Aug. 9 to teach guests how to make fused glass pendants.

Those who attended the fused glass pendant workshop had the opportunity to create two of their own pendants to be added to a necklace.

Cardwell brought in samples of what the pendants were going to look like in four weeks after she fired them. The samples gave the attendees an idea of what they might want to do for their own pendant. One of the guests attending made his own sun catcher instead of a necklace pendant.

Cardwell demonstrated how to assemble the pendants using pieces of colored glass and glue. Guests would choose what color base piece of glass they wanted then they would choose a few colors to glue on top of the base. The decorative pieces of glass could be cut into different sizes so more colors could be added on the base.

Once the pieces were glued together, Cardwell would take the pendants with her to fire them. Cardwell would then add a small hook at the top of each pendant to allow a string or chain to go through so the guests could wear the pendant around their necks.

The pendants will be ready for the guests to pick up at a later date.
