Angels for Animals and Panera Bread will present a stray, free-roaming and feral-cat seminar from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Angels For Animals Andrews Hall, 4750 W. South Range Road.
Presenters include Diane Less, co-founder of Angels for Animals; Toby Franks, board member of Spay Neuter Ohio; Jason Cooke, animal advocate for the state; and Corky Stiles, president of TRN of Warren.
Participants will learn how and why TNR works, humane trapping techniques, low-cost, high-volume, high-level care spay/neuter, post-op recovery, return and ongoing management, tips for hard-to-catch cats, community relations and nuisance-behavior remedies, and a question-and-answer session.
The event also will feature a Panera Bread bagel, fruit and pastry bar for $5.
Tibbetts-Wick detour
LIBERTY
The Ohio Department of Transportation announced Thursday that motorists who take the state Route 11 southbound exit to Tibbetts-Wick Road will not be able to turn left onto eastbound Tibbetts-Wick through early October due to bridge construction.
The detour will be Route 11 southbound to Gypsy Lane to Route 11 northbound or motorists could use state Route 82 eastbound to state Route 193 (Belmont Avenue) to Tibbetts-Wick.
Investigating death
WARREN
Police said there were no obvious signs of injury or foul play, but they are investigating the death of Susan E. Marshall, 62, of Albert Street Northeast.
Right now, the cause is unknown, and it will be a while before toxicology results are available, said Sgt. Joe Kistler of the detective bureau. A family member called police about Marshall’s death at 10:03 p.m. Wednesday, and she was found deceased in her home.
CQE clinic planned
YOUNGSTOWN
The Community Initiative to Reduce Violence and Home for Good Re-Entry Resource Referral Center will host a Certification for Qualification of Employment clinic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Mahoning-Youngstown Community Action Partnership office, 1325 Fifth Ave.
People who want to volunteer in the CQE process can receive training from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. and are encouraged to bring their own laptops if they own them.
