DAV hosts trunk sale to benefit Veterans and families

The DAV, Disabled American Veterans Chapter #2 “Junk In The Trunk Sale” will take place on Sept. 17 (Sept. 24 rain date) from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Austintown Senior Center, located at 110 Westchester Drive in Austintown.

Items for sale will be garage or yard sale style, and will include items from arts and crafts, as well as antiques and collectables vendors.

Spaces for vendors wishing to participate in this event are available. The registration is $10 per one parking space and must be received by Sept. 1. No hot food, soft drinks or raffle drawings can be done by vendors. There is a limit of 100 spaces and are available on a first come, first served basis. After your registration payment is received, you will be notified of your confirmed space(s).

Vendors may arrive after 7:30 a.m. and must be in their assigned space(s) by 8:30 a.m. No refunds will be given for any reason.

Proceeds from the “Junk In The Trunk Sale” will used to assist Mahoning County Veterans and their families. If there are any questions or an application is needed, call Tom Semer at 330-503-6096, email at dav2yooh@sbcglobal.net or search web at oh.dav.org/02.

DAV is the Disabled American Veterans and they are Chapter #2 of Youngstown and Mahoning County. The group is all volunteer, with no paid staff, an IRS 501(c)(4) non-profit and registered with the state of Ohio as a charity.

DAV provides assistance to Veterans and their families with holiday food drive pass-outs, food cards, wheelchairs and anything else within the group’s means. They render full military funeral services when requested to do so locally or at the nearby National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.

DAV also supports the local community throughout the year by participating in local parades and fairs. They provide Color Guard and Rifle Details when requested by local schools and other community organizations. They also provide free, professional assistance in obtaining benefits and services for Veterans and their families that have been earned through military service that is provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and other government agencies.
