Polish Day festival to feature ethnic food, music, dancing

Staff report

AUSTINTOWN

The annual Polish Day festival will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 3055 S. Raccoon Road.

Sponsored by Polish Youngstown, the festival is a celebration — and demonstration — of Polish culture and traditions, with authentic food, music, dance and cultural programs. Unlike past years, the event is one day only.

Admission is $5 (free for children 12 and under, and also for those with a valid YSU identification card).

Krakus Polish Bakery and Deli will provide the food service. Musical acts will include Chardon Polka Band, Polka Country and Lil Lenny, and Living Traditions Folk Ensemble will perform.

The day will also include a pierogi eating contest, pierogi making contest, polka dance lessons and polka line dancing, a Polish marketplace and a silent auction.
