POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Hubbard and Liberty:

GIRARD

Aug. 22

Menacing: A West Liberty Street woman reported having found a note on her front door that was derogatory and threatening in nature.

Burglary: To a residence in the 50 block of Hancock Street. A woman noticed $200 missing from her purse.

Theft of services: The owner of a North State Street business told police someone without permission had filled his trash bin with garbage.

Aug. 23

Arrest: After receiving a report of a possibly intoxicated person leaving a church in a car, officers charged 30-year-old Cappyanna Levenduski of Kersey, Pa., with operating a vehicle impaired when, they said, Levenduski’s blood-alcohol content was 0.150, nearly double Ohio’s 0.08 legal intoxication limit.

Domestic violence: An 11-year-old Girard girl was charged with the crime after her mother alleged the girl had repeatedly struck her with a back-scratching device, then tossed a coaster and struck the accuser’s right temple area during an argument.

Theft: A man reportedly refused to pay an $80 food bill before leaving Fire Grill BBQ restaurant, 30 N. State St., and causing a scene.

Assault: A man alleged his sister kicked his left knee when he tried to separate the sister and other person as they fought at a Harry Street residence.

Aug. 24

Arrest: After having responded to a one-car crash near Interstate 80 and U.S. Route 422, police charged Nickolas Tyson, 21, of East Kline Street, Girard, with operating a vehicle impaired. Tyson had a 0.230 blood-alcohol content, a report showed.

HUBBARD

Aug. 18

Theft: A Church Street man discovered someone without authorization had tried to transfer money from his bank account into another.

Menacing: A Warren woman who attends a Hubbard church reported another member of the congregation who the accuser said is infatuated with her has engaged in a pattern of harassment, including sending unwanted gifts and emails and making such calls to her.

Aug. 19

Arrest: Hubbard authorities took custody of 25-year-old William J. Howe II of Eighth Street, Struthers. He was wanted on a probation-violation warrant.

Aug. 21

Theft/possible burglary: A woman reported various medications missing from her School Street home, possibly after someone had broken in.

LIBERTY

Aug. 18

Arrest: Youngstown State University police in the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue handed to township authorities 30-year-old Amy J. Begeot of Plymouth Avenue, Girard, who was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant.

Drugs: While responding to a complaint of unwanted people on a piece of property off Tibbetts-Wick Road, authorities charged Jessica M. Juillerat, 29, with possession of heroin, drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia. Juillerat, of Tibbetts-Wick, Girard, had several used hypodermic needles, spoons with burn marks common in drug use and a substance in a folded piece of paper that tested positive for heroin, police alleged.

Criminal damaging: A Ford F-150 truck in the 5000 block of West Liberty Street was found with a cracked windshield and two tires that had been cut as well as with a broken driver’s side window and mirror.

Arrest: After having responded to a 911 call pertaining to a possibly intoxicated motorist on Belmont Avenue, authorities charged Courtney J. Reynolds, 33, of Gypsy Lane, Youngstown, with operating a vehicle impaired. Reynolds, who has 12 driving-under-suspension convictions, also was given a minor-misdemeanor citation charging her with having three small bags of suspected marijuana.

Aug. 19

Burglary: To an apartment in the 10 block of Holly Drive, from which a 22-inch flat-screen TV, two checkbooks, an Xbox game console and assorted pieces of mail were stolen.

Theft: A man noticed his wallet and $150 missing from his Rose Avenue residence.

Arrest: A traffic stop in the 500 block of Gypsy Lane resulted in the arrest of 53-year-old Rhonda L. Tubbs on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia when, authorities said, suspected crack-cocaine pipes were found. Tubbs, of Superior Street, Youngstown, also was wanted on two city warrants.

Theft: Two men and two women reportedly left Denny’s Restaurant, 4020 Belmont Ave., without paying their $100 food bill.

Aug. 20

Arrest: While answering a shoplifting call at Walmart, 200 Goldie Road, officers charged Heather M. Estes of Red Oaks Drive, Girard, with possession of drug-abuse instruments. The 37-year-old Estes, who also was wanted on a warrant charging failure to appear in court, had three used syringes in her purse, a report said.

Aug. 21

Arrest: Kelvin Barlow, 48, of Holly Drive, Liberty, was taken into custody on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired after having been pulled over near Goldie Road. Barlow, who police said had a 0.216 blood-alcohol content, also was cited on a marijuana-possession charge.

Assault: Two men each reported having been assaulted by the other in the 4600 block of Joann Lane. Both received several scratches and cuts.

Aug. 22

Arrest: Tyneshia R. Brown, 30, of Lexington Avenue, Youngstown, was picked up at the Mahoning County jail on a Girard Municipal Court warrant.

Aggravated menacing: A Cleveland man walking his dog in the vicinity of a Church Hill-Hubbard Road car dealership alleged the business’s owner had threatened to shoot him and the animal.

Arrest: Police were dispatched to the Mahoning County jail to book 34-year-old Luke A. Ralston of Austinburg, Ohio, who was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant.

Aug. 23

Theft: A Warren woman found out four checks that had been stolen from her and written for $410 total were cashed at a Belmont Avenue bank.

Aggravated menacing: A Youngstown woman at a Goldie Road business reported another woman who claimed to need help got into the Youngstown woman’s vehicle and, in an intimidating manner, convinced the accuser to drive her to that city and give her $27.

Aug. 24

Drug paraphernalia: David A. Hodges, 41, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after police stopped his car near Belmont Avenue. The Flint, Mich., man had a suspected crack-cocaine pipe, a report stated.
