Lordstown home with numerous animals declared uninhabitable

WARREN — The Trumbull County Board of Health declared the house at 1821 Salt Springs Road in Lordstown unfit for human habitation at the board’s meeting Wednesday.

The reason is because there were 51 cats and 11 dogs and several other animals in the home with two adults and a child, and the house was filled with feces and urine, causing a bad urine smell, said Kris Wilster, director of environmental health.

Two county health department inspectors were among the officials who went to the home this week after Greg Miller of the Trumbull Animal Cruelty Task Force discovered the conditions in the home Monday after receiving a tip.

The family moved to another home, and all the animals were removed and taken to various animal shelters.

Wilster said the matter is now turned over to Lordstown officials to determine when and how the family will be allowed to return to the home.
