51 cats removed from Lordstown home

LORDSTOWN — The 51 cats in a home on Salt Springs Road declared unfit for habitation were removed today and placed with two agencies.

The 11 dogs were removed Monday, and the people living there moved to a nearby relatives house, said Greg Miller, founder and former president of the Trumbull Animal Cruelty Task Force.

Miller discovered the home to have a dangerously high levels of ammonia from dog and cat urine after going there Monday to follow up on a tip.

The animals were in decent health except for the ammonia, Miller said. They are in several locations: the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County shelter, Trumbull County Dog Kennel and Falcon Cat Rescue of Austintown.
