Investigators seek cause of Portland Avenue house fire

YOUNGSTOWN — Investigators are looking for the cause of a fire late Friday that destroyed a South Portland Avenue home.

Firefighters arriving at a 207 S. Portland Ave. home about 11:50 p.m. and found the house totally engulfed in flames and two cars at the home next door were also on fire.

Reports said the fire appeared to start on the front porch. The homeowner said he was able to get out of the house with a friend and two dogs.

Damage is listed at $34,000. Two firefighters suffered twisted ankles.
