Wing challenge will support Homes for Kids

The fourth annual Steel Valley Wing Challenge will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. Sept. 14 at Packard Music Hall, 1703 Mahoning Ave.

The event benefits Homes For Kids/Child and Family Solutions.

Participants will sample more than 30 flavors of barbecue, hot and traditional wings from area vendors, including Lake Tavern, The Rig, The Ohio Inn, The Lime Tree, Cockeye BBQ, Marco’s Pizza-Girard, Primanti Bros-Niles, Our Gang’s Lounge and more.

Tickets are $40 for adults, and $10 for children 6 to 13; kids 5 and under enter for free. Reserved tables for 10 guests are available in advance for $450 and include family or company name displayed on the table. Those who enter a wing-eating contest sponsored by Lake Tavern will compete to see who can eat 12 wings the fastest. The cost is $10 per person (in addition to the cost of an event ticket). Registration information can be found at www.steelvalleywingchallenge.com.

Celebrity judges include former San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Rod Morris, former Steelers linebacker Marv Kellum, head baseball coach at Carnegie Mellon University and pro baseball scout Claudio Reilsono, and state Rep. Sean O’Brien.

Cornel Bogdan from 570 WKBN will be the master of ceremonies.

The event will include a one-hour concert by Warren native and Nashville recording artist Karli Whetstone and entertainment from local artist Andy Timko.

The event also includes a salad bar, dessert, a basket raffle, silent auction, 50-50 raffle and a cash bar.

Homes For Kids/Child and Family Solutions strives to meet the needs of every child, family, and individual referred to them. Homes For Kids provides treatment to children, many who have been emotionally, physically or sexually abused. Child and Family Solutions offers in-home behavioral health treatment services to children and their families in the Mahoning Valley.
