Vienna home is total loss after fire this afternoon

VIENNA

A fire destroyed a Niles-Vienna Road this afternoon and resulted in the loss of two pets, said Vienna Township Fire Department Chief Richard Brannon.

No residents were home during the time of the blaze, but firefighters had to bury the family dog who was trapped inside.

The family cat is unaccounted for.

Brannon said the home, now with boarded-up windows, is a total loss.

He said the cause was most likely a burner on the stove left on.

The family is staying with other family members.
