I-80 ramp reopens

AUSTINTOWN

The ramp from state Route 46 to Interstate 80 eastbound has reopened after a six-week closure, the Ohio Department of Transportation announced Friday. That closing was part of a $91.5 million project to widen the interstate highway from four to six lanes between state Routes 46 and 193, which is scheduled for completion by late July 2018.

ODOT also announced that state Route 164 between state Routes 7 and 626 in Beaver Township will be closed from Thursday through Aug. 30 for emergency railroad-crossing repairs. The detour will be state Route 7 (Market Street) to state Route 165 to state Route 626.

Teen faces charges

A Youngstown teen faces a criminal-mischief charge after a trespassing incident at a township business Friday morning.

A passer-by called 911 reporting three juveniles acting suspiciously near Master Auto Repair on West Midlothian Boulevard.

The witness detained one of the three, a 13-year-old boy of Oak Lane, while the other suspects fled.

According to police, the 13-year-old admitted he and his friends defaced a vehicle, writing profanities on its window.

He also is charged with criminal trespassing and breaking curfew. He was released to his father’s custody with a pending court date in Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center.

Probing burglary

BOARDMAN

Township police are investigating a burglary that occurred Thursday afternoon.

The victim reported she returned to her home on South Cadillac Drive at 1:30 p.m. to find the glass on her rear door broken. She said her engagement and wedding rings, together worth $4,600, are missing. Damage to the door was estimated at $150. Nothing else in the house reportedly appeared to be disturbed.

Charged in stabbing

WARREN

Maiki E. Brogdon, 30, of Sweetbrier Street Northwest, is charged with felonious assault in the 9:14 p.m. July 30 stabbing of a boy, 16, on Forest Street Northeast.

The boy said about seven cars pulled up on Forest and 20 to 30 people jumped out. He said a female 30 to 40 years old stabbed him. The boy was treated at St. Joseph Warren Hospital.

Brogdon was arrested Friday morning on a warrant. He will be arraigned in Warren Municipal Court.

Abduction charge

WARREN

Carlos D. Huff, 21, of Miller Street Southwest, was arrested Friday morning on a warrant charging him with abduction, receiving stolen property and domestic violence in an Aug. 13 incident in which he is accused of dragging his girlfriend by the hair into a car and driving her to his mother’s house.

On the way back home, Huff drove her down back roads and told her he was going to kill her, she said. He eventually dropped her off at home, then came back with a rifle and pointed it at her, threatening to kill her, she said. She had her daughter call 911, and Huff ran out when police arrived. He was not apprehended at the time.

Stabbed in the back

WARREN

A man, 24, of Rio Terra Street Northwest, suffered a stab wound to the back at 1 a.m. Friday and was taken to St. Joseph Warren Hospital for treatment. The man told police his wife stabbed him because he told her he was going to a karate tournament. He said he told his wife to go to her mother’s house, and he didn’t want to file charges against her.
