The Poland library hosts a series of Baby Brilliant programs throughout the week and on Aug. 4, the children who attended the Tales and Talk for 2s and 3s learned about the letter “M” and mice.

Poland librarian Jen Kuczek started story time with a song to get the children prepared.

After the opening song, the children listened to several books Kuczek read and sang along to songs about mice. There were activities to get the children up and moving pretending they were mice. A paper was passed out with all of the lyrics to the songs and rhymes for the children and caregivers to follow along to.

To get the children on their feet, Kuczek played the song “Hickory Dickory Dock,” and every time those three words were said, Kuczek would blow bubbles for the children to chase around the room and pop. The children were excited to do something they’ve never done before during story time at the library.

Story time ended with a letter “M” maze. The children used crayons to try and find their way out of the maze in the shape of a lowercase “M.”

Baby Brilliant programs are offered at the Public Libraries of Mahoning County for different age groups. A calendar of the Baby Brilliant programs and the locations can be found at www.libraryvisit.org.
