POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:

HUBBARD

Aug. 10

Breaking and entering: Someone entered a vacant residence in the 200 block of Westview Avenue through a window, then cut the copper piping in the basement.

Child endangering: Authorities received a complaint that a 9-year-old boy’s father, of Hubbard, may have asked the boy to take an inappropriate picture of himself. Mahoning County Children Services Board was notified, a police report said.

Aug. 11

Citation: Officers cited 42-year-old Stephen A. Kettering of Jacobs Road, Hubbard, after having responded to complaints and alleging Kettering had on his property a rusted trailer, an old couch, milk jugs filled with what appeared to be motor oil, used tires and other junk, in violation of a city ordinance.

Aug. 12

Drug paraphernalia: A traffic stop near Taylor and Moore streets resulted in a minor-misdemeanor citation charging Brandon P. Richardson of Bond Street, Farrell, Pa., with possession of drug paraphernalia. The 34-year-old Richardson had a bowl and a small bag, both of which contained suspected marijuana, a report showed.

Aggravated menacing: A West Liberty Street man alleged a Brookfield man threatened to kill him regarding $200 the Brookfield man said was owed him.

Fraud: A Meadowland Court man told officers he received two calls several months apart from someone claiming to offer technical-support services for his computer that the caller said had been compromised. After paying a total of $670 to supposedly repair the problem, the accuser concluded that the caller likely had misrepresented himself.

Aug. 13

Arrest: Authorities picked up 38-year-old Robert L. Anderson II at the Mahoning County jail. Anderson, of Doris Drive, Hubbard, was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant.

LIBERTY

Aug. 12

Arrest: Sebring police at the Mahoning County jail handed to township authorities 31-year-old Meghan W. Mercer of West Maryland Avenue, Sebring. She was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant.

Vandalism: A Streetsboro woman reported some of her possessions had been dumped on a piece of property she leases in the 4700 block of Logan Way Avenue. Also, a gate and a horse trailer on the parcel were damaged.

Criminal damaging: Someone in the 1400 block of Townsend Avenue used a rock to break a car’s rear window and do about $400 in damage.

Arrest: Officers responded to a vehicular accident in the 4500 block of Belmont Avenue before charging 66-year-old George E. Gresley of Taylor Avenue, Girard, with operating a vehicle impaired.

Breaking and entering: After responding to a report that someone had been breaking into vehicles in the 3000 block of Frederick Street, police charged a Youngstown boy, 16, with breaking and entering, theft and resisting arrest after finding him and a 17-year-old Youngstown boy hiding in a garage on nearby Colonial Drive. Officers seized miscellaneous stolen items and money, and the teen admitted having entered about 10 cars, a report said. Charges were pending against the older teen, who authorities said had fled from the garage on foot.

Drug paraphernalia: Police were dispatched to a residence regarding someone possibly smoking crack cocaine before they charged June Slenker of Logan Way, Liberty, with possession of drug paraphernalia. Slenker, 60, had a suspected crack pipe in the basement, though no crack cocaine was found, a report stated.

Theft: A Euclid Avenue woman reported her wallet stolen from her vehicle.

Aug. 13

Theft: Three men reportedly left Denny’s Restaurant, 4020 Belmont Ave., without paying their $24 food bill.

Aug. 14

Identity theft: A Crew Hood Drive man told police his wife had noticed on his bank debit-card statement two unauthorized charges that totaled roughly $1,017.

Theft: A Youngstown woman reported her iPhone and a charger missing when she visited a family member in the 3000 block of Northgate Road.

Aug. 15

Burglary: To a residence in the 500 block of Colonial Drive via the front door. Two sink faucets and a package of surveillance cameras were taken.

Theft: A woman discovered two sets of headphones valued at $1,200 missing from her Sampson Drive home.

Aug. 16

Arrest: Officers picked up 28-year-old Jonnie M. Winslow as he was walking in the 1600 block of Motor Inn Drive. Winslow, of Hadley Avenue, Liberty, was wanted on a township warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court on a criminal-trespassing charge.

Criminal damaging: Authorities charged 53-year-old John M. Hanson with criminal damaging after a manager of a Motor Inn Drive motel discovered water overflowing from a sink in a room, after the Cincinnati man had left, which caused water damage to the carpeting and floor as well as to the room below. Hanson later was charged with disorderly conduct while intoxicated when, police said, he was found passed out on sidewalk next to a nearby gas station.

Aug. 17

Harassment: A Monticello Boulevard woman said she received two unwanted messages, one of which was derogatory in nature and the other implying she would be killed.

GIRARD

Aug. 14

Criminal mischief: Someone tossed eggs at a garage door on North St. Clair Avenue.

Aug. 15

Arrest: While responding to a three-vehicle accident near South State and Liberty streets, officers charged Scott Kendall, 54, of Shannon Road, Girard, with operating a vehicle impaired.

Forgery: A woman who co-owns an East Liberty Street business told authorities she believed her signature was forged on a contract from a credit-card company after she had canceled the service.

Theft: A worker for Family Video, 801 N. State St., reported a man rented but failed to return five video games valued at $229.

Aggravated menacing: A Plymouth Avenue man played for police a 20-second voice-mail message he had received that sounded like a gunshot from a handgun.

Aug. 17

Assaults: A man alleged a co-worker had twice struck him during an argument at their place of employment at a Trumbull Avenue business. In a separate report, the co-worker alleged the man had punched his cheek area during the altercation.

Trespassing: A North Ward Avenue woman said her former landlord came to her residence unannounced and said she wanted to take a cat the former landlord said belonged to her.
