The Austintown library hosted a Pete the Cat event on July 27 with crafts, music and a special appearance by Pete the Cat himself.
Austintown librarian Nikki Puhalla set up different activities for the children who attended the event.
There was a ring toss, a sandbox where children could dig for Pete’s buttons, a craft to make a Pete the Cat and a magnet board to put buttons on Pete.
The program started with Pete the Cat coming out and singing along with the children to some of his songs. After the songs and stories were over, Pete the Cat left the room for a little bit to allow the children to play some of the games that were set up.
When Pete the Cat returned, the children had the opportunity to talk and take pictures with him. As the event came to a close, Pete and the children sang a few more songs and listened to another story.
Pete the Cat has visited several libraries in Mahoning County throughout the month of July.
Children could attend the Pete the Cat event as part of their summer reading challenge.
