YOUNGSTOWN

One of three men wanted in the robbery of a pizza delivery driver last month was found Wednesday hiding in a closet.

Brandon Jones, 26, of McGuffey Road in Coitsville, was found about 9:30 a.m. inside an apartment in Compass West in Austintown by U.S. marshals serving an arrest warrant for aggravated robbery.

The warrant was issued Tuesday in Municipal Court.

Marshals went to the apartment of Jones’ girlfriend looking for him and had to force the door open when no one would answer but they heard voices inside.

Jones’ girlfriend and a toddler came out of a closet and the girlfriend told marshals Jones was not there. However, marshals continued searching and found Jones in the same closet. He was taken into custody without incident.

Jones is one of three suspects wanted in the July 28 robbery of a pizza delivery driver in the 3500 block of Nelson Avenue. Reports said police were called there after Hubbard police received a call from the driver from a nearby business that he was robbed.

The victim told police he was walking toward the home on Nelson Avenue when three men walked out of the woods, with two of the men pointing guns and Jones telling the victim to drop everything he was carrying. The men got $20 and the pizza before running away. The driver then went back to his shop and called police, reports said.

Reports said the driver was able to identify Jones because the phone number that was used to call the order matched a phone number on Jones’ Facebook account.
