Canfield Little Cardinals football players and cheerleaders, along with their coaches and board members, volunteered their time and energy to help beautify an area of the Canfield Fairgrounds on July 31.

The 20 boys and girls pulled weeds, planted shrubs and flowers, and mulched a central area of fairgrounds, which was in need of sprucing up.

“This work day was a great way to get the kids involved in giving back to the community and learn that volunteering their time has positive rewards. The kids really enjoyed it and they all were eager to help,” said Kelly Parker, Canfield Little Cardinals first vice president.

The organization received donations of mulch from J&R Landscape Supply in Canfield and a donation of shrubs from Elliott’s Garden Center, in addition to the contributions from many of its program sponsors.

“This was the first year we did something like this, and we hope to continue every year,” Parker said.
