Civil War reenactors weekend set


GROVE CITY, PA.

The Western Pennsylvania Civil War Reenactors Society is hosting its 10th Biannual Civil War Living History weekend at Memorial Park in Grove City, Pa. Camps will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 27 and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 28.

The event is in honor of Mercer County’s Civil War Hero, Brigadier General Norman J. Maxwell. Civil War reenacting groups from western Pennsylvania will be taking part in live demonstrations of Civil War soldiers drill, artillery drill and camp life. An educational children’s militia will be conducted, where young children will be able to take part in living history as a Civil War soldier. Civil War period Civilian demonstrations will be ongoing as well as blacksmithing demonstrations. A night firing demonstration is scheduled for Saturday evening.
