Sentenced for drugs
WARREN
Kevin D. Johnson, 28, of Logan Avenue Northeast, was sentenced to 13 years in prison Thursday on six drug and gun charges filed against him after he accidentally left narcotics in his child’s diaper bag.
Prosecutors said a day-care worker pulled a clean diaper out of his child’s diaper bag and found narcotics inside.
That led to a request by Warren police to search Johnson’s home, where police found suspected cocaine, heroin and weapons. Johnson told police the drugs were his and said he sometimes kept narcotics in the diaper bag.
Johnson pleaded guilty earlier to cocaine possession and trafficking, heroin possession and trafficking, two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm and child endangering.
Indicted again
WARREN
Tre Vaughn L. Walker, 23, of Stewart Drive Northwest, was indicted on two new charges this week while waiting to be sentenced on two others.
The most-recent charges are improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle and tampering with evidence, both felonies. They stem from a July 6 incident.
He’s scheduled for sentencing in September and could get up to three years in prison after pleading guilty May 12 to charges related to a traffic stop in June in which police found a loaded handgun under a book bag in the back seat of a car in which Walker was a passenger.
He also served 10 days in the Trumbull County jail in March for leading police on a car and foot chase.
