Abundant Life Fellowship car show is Sunday

Staff report

NEW WATERFORD

Abundant Life Fellowship, 46469 state Route 46, is hosting the Cruise Against Hunger Car Show, co-sponsored by the Salem Arby’s Cruisin’ Crew, from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday to raise money for the 4C’s (Crestview Churches Community Concerns) Food Pantry.

Last year’s event raised more than $1,700.

In case of rain, the event will take place at 4 p.m. Sept. 25. Organizers should know by about 1 p.m. Sunday whether the event will go on as scheduled. Check the Cruisin’ Crew or Abundant Life web pages or Facebook pages for updates.

The show is open to all makes and models of cars. Best-of-show trophies will be awarded to the top three vote-getters from the public. An additional Pastor’s Choice trophy will also be awarded. Last year, nearly 90 vehicles participated.

Door prizes will be awarded throughout the day. Money will be raised through car-entry fees, a basket auction, a 50-50 raffle and the sale of grilled foods, which will be available for a donation. All proceeds will go to the pantry, which is located inside the Abundant Life office building.

The 4C’s comprises the six churches in the Crestview School District. Besides Abundant Life, the other churches are East Fairfield United Methodist, Middleton Friends Meeting, New Waterford United Methodist, New Waterford United Presbyterian and Zion Lutheran.

The pantry is open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Wednesday and is an affiliate of the Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley. It is funded primarily through donations from the churches, but also from individuals and businesses.
