Police needed extra help Tuesday to subdue a Brookfield man who was causing a disturbance at a McCartney Road store on the city’s East Side.

Terry Thomas, 25, was arraigned in municipal court Wednesday before Judge Elizabeth Kobly on charges of assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and criminal trespass after reports said police were called to Walgreens because Thomas was harassing customers and staff.

Judge Kobly set his bond at $15,000.

When police arrived about 2:55 p.m., an officer walked into the store and told Thomas to leave and when Thomas did, the officer walked out behind him, reports said.

Reports said Thomas then turned around and pushed the officer, and the officer tried to take Thomas into custody but the pair struggled.

A second officer arrived and tried to help, and all three tumbled to the ground with Thomas repeatedly punching the second officer in the back of the head, reports said.

It took two paramedics and an unidentified person along with the two officers to get Thomas into a police car, but they could not get him into an ambulance, and he settled down after he was stunned with an electronic stun weapon, reports said.

On the ride to the Mahoning County jail, Thomas threatened the officer transporting him, and when he was taken out of the cruiser inside the jail, he pushed against the officer and struggled again. Reports said it took five corrections officers to get Thomas into the jail’s booking area.
