Man pleads guilty to heroin, fentanyl trafficking charges

PITTSBURGH (AP) — A western Pennsylvania man has pleaded guilty in federal court to charges that he trafficked heroin and fentanyl.

Ronald McMillian, 24, pleaded guilty Tuesday to four counts and is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 13.

McMillian had been indicted on charges he supplied drugs that led to two nonfatal overdoses in August 2015.

There were at least four known overdose deaths that month due to heroin-laced with fentanyl, a narcotic that can lead to life-threatening respiratory distress.

One of the prominent stamp bags linked to the August overdoses was labeled “MADE IN COLOMBIA.”

Prosecutors said McMillian was involved in distributing those bags.
