Seeking treatment

WARREN

Tracy A. Gogel, a former Warren schools home-economics teacher, has asked a judge to allow her to receive drug treatment in lieu of conviction.

Gogel, 47, of Cuyahoga Falls, is charged with deception to obtain a dangerous drug, a felony that could result in a prison sentence of up to 18 months if she’s convicted.

However, if Judge Peter Kontos of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court allows Gogel to complete a treatment program about one year long and she completes it successfully, she could have her charge dismissed. Judge Kontos has not yet ruled on Gogel’s request.

She was convicted of felony drug possession Sept. 17, 2015, in Summit County.

Case to grand jury

BOARDMAN

Samuel Strine, former manager of Men’s Wearhouse here, had his felony theft case bound over to the Mahoning County grand jury. Strine, of Youngstown, waived his preliminary hearing Tuesday in Mahoning County Area Court. Township police made the arrest June 28 after a corporate probe accused Strine of taking approximately $30,000 from the store over the past two years, a report said. Strine posted a $4,000 bond the same day as his arrest.
