Port Authority ends subsidies to ADI; Chicago flights to end

WARREN — The Western Reserve Port Authority announced today it is discontinuing the subsidy to the airline that has offered flights to Chicago this summer.

The decision does not mean that the flights offered by Aerodynamics Inc. will immediately end but a port authority official said they probably will.

The decision on when to end the flights will be made by the airline, said John Moliterno executive director of the Port Authority.

Moliterno said the number of passengers on the flights started out low and continued at a low level over the two months of the flights.

He said problems connecting to additional flights in Chicago were the main reasons more passengers did not use the service.

He said the Port Authority will continue to try to find a way to provide daily air service out of the Youngstown Warren Regional Airport that will be sustainable.
